Yes, Harry, or Heather (Harry's daughter), will probably stop by your table to see how the food's tasting. The answer I've always heard, or given, was, "Excellent!" One can stop Anywhere, U.S.A., and get standard Applebees' or Ruby Tuesday's blah, blah, blah....but if you want excellence? Superb service, food, atmosphere? The only choice in Bedford, Virginia will be Olde Liberty Station. The site from which the Bedford Boys launched on their fateful trip to Normandy, France, to participate in the D-Day Invasion. The colors, textures and environment of the cozy historical Station were a comfort to locals, a thrill to visitors and pride to its employees and owners. Until September 18, 2009. Restoration was in progress on the 100 year old building when disaster struck. The paint was being stripped from the exterior of the building using several methods- including blowtorches. One tiny, miniscule spark escaped into the attic...where it smoldered into a blazing rage inside of half an hour. I know. I was there. We cried, held each other and watched it burn. No one was hurt. Our owner, Harry, gathered us employees in the parking lot as it burned and promised us we'd get through this. He wasn't sure how, exactly, in the moment, but Harry's word is as good as platinum. He's not let one of us (50 employees) down yet. I drive by at least once a week to check on the progress of rebuilding just like every other Bedfordite circling the block. We want our Paninis back!!! :) I am a server of Olde Liberty Station. (Bartender, too.) I will be walking those historic floors again soon~ (They hope to re-open by February 2010.) If you're visiting Bedford for the first time after we re-open, you'll be experiencing the best American foods Bedford has to offer. The Station takes food very seriously by hand-cutting all of our fresh meats delivered thrice weekly, making all of our own salad dressings, and generally making delicious dishes to satisfy your belly and your wallet. If you're a local, and one of our favorite faces (as all of you are :)) look forward to just a few tweaks and pinches in our new design. Any changes made will be done so to maximize our stellar service to you and all. Olde Liberty Station suffered some historic loss during the fire, but much (read: A LOT) was salvaged. Our local fire-fighters were beyond amazing that day...many, many thanks to all the Departments who showed up and saved what was saved. So, local, traveler, random Californian who wants to taste the best that Bedford, Virginia has to offer~ visit us when we re-open. The best service, the best food, the BEST Bedford, Virginia has to offer will be waiting for you at 515 Bedford Avenue, Bedford, Virginia, 24523. I'll be there when you are :) ~Penny PS: not sure if the news website still holds the video, but if it does it's at www.wsls.com

A resturant where the owner is likely to visit your table. Popular fare at a reasonable price. After many meals and banquets, I have not met an unhappy customer. Busy on some nights, but usually no extended waiting in line. Thanks and Good job Harry!
