My love for this market got even stronger. A week ago I bought the freshest tastiest package of baby spinach I've ever bought from a supermarket. Amazing! And it was a dollar cheaper than what the chains sell it for
This store is a delight for budget concious families and gourmet cooks as well. The base of the store is Mexican in character, but they also have a good line of Caribbean products as well as some Indian and other Asian items. There is a wonderful meat counter with hard to find items like ox tail and goat as well as the regular stuff you'll find in a supermarket, but cheaper and fresh cut by their army of butchers. The quality of the produce is much better than in larger stores and the prices are about 1/3 less. The ailes are narrow and the place gets crowded. It is a loud cacophony of languages and isn't a store for those who are timid or who demand super comfort while shopping. I live in the neighborhood and find that the selection at Rogers Park is able to support about 80% of my rather ecclectic needs.
