Star Maker's new Flemington Studio is located at 295 Route 202/31 Flemington, next to Hunterdon Music on the Route 31 and 202 Circle in the center of Flemington Borough's busy commercial district. The new facility is convenient to all the surrounding communities as well as easily accessible to students coming in from out of town. The new location includes a total of 34OO square feet. The main entrance faces Route 12. The Star Maker sign-in area will be through the doors to the right as you look at the front of the building. There is no entrance from the back of the building. The new location has 5 rehearsal rooms. Two rooms, Studio A and B are for Private or Semi Private & Small Group, Music Lessons, Voice Lessons, Acting Lessons and Consulting or Costuming Appointments. These rooms have pianos and microphone set ups as well as storage for scripts, music, fabric and trims. Studio B offers the means to record audition videos with professional lighting and backdrops. Studio C is about 26' x 26' and will be used for dance and acting group instruction. Just past the Studios A & B there is a short hallway to the left which opens to Studio D, our largest room at about 48' x 26.' In the back of that same space is Studio E. Studio E is about 26' x 24' and will be used for Dance as well as Acting classes. There are three bathrooms in the space, including two fully handicapped bathrooms. We will be using a new on-line, web based software program allowing everyone anytime access to registration, payments, account balances, room rentals and retail purchases as well as up to the minute information about Star Maker.
The Physical Studio ~ Clinton
Star Maker School’s newest addition is our Clinton location. This gorgeous facility is located in the heart of Clinton and offers a large, home-style waiting area for parents. It is equipped with a very large suspended dance floor covered in state of the art dance flooring, a brand new high-tech sound system. Ballet barres extend across the entire length of the studio.
Dance wear Boutique
Stop by our Clinton Studio to see a wonderful selection of dancewear for all ages. The boutique includes leotards, shorts, pants, skirts, T-shirts, dance shoes, dance bags, hair accessories and gift items all at reasonable prices.
Our Staff
Star Maker employs only high quality, certified, professional instructors. We hire experienced staff only, who instruct using caring and motivational methods. Many of our teachers specialize in a given area. All of our staff members are experienced in writing competitive choreography for dancers in our performing units. They also are capable of writing challenging work for our beginner and recreational students. Technique is a priority. And confidence-building methods are used to enhance student performance level.
Master Classes
Master classes are offered numerous times during the year. Star Maker brings in professional dancers presently performing & choreographing on Broadway or teaching in NYC to instruct master classes. This past season master classes were offered in HipHop, Jazz, Funk, House, and Contemporary Jazz.
Teacher Assistant Program
Star Maker also has a wonderful teacher-training program in place since 1987. This program puts young dancers who aspire to teach in an assistant teacher position. This benefits the students in many ways; it allows for a smaller student to teacher ratio and gives the serious dancer a chance to learn the education aspect of the field.
Teacher/Student Ratios
Certified teacher to student ratio ranges from one teacher to 4-9 students at age 3,4 to 5-10 students at age 5-11 to 5-20 students for ages 12 and up. In classes with more than 12 students, Star Maker adds a student teacher to the classroom. Many smaller size classes also are equipped with a student teacher assistant.
Resident Company
Star Maker sponsors the performing organization, The Entertainers Dance Company. The group, founded in 1975, is a non-profit organization registered with the State of New Jersey that is dedicated to youth performance and development. The Entertainers is made up of young girls and boys between the ages of 5 and 24. The Entertainers have performed at Knicks, Nets and 76'ers Halftimes, the Garden State Bowl Halftime, Julliard School of Music Comic Opera, The Hero, The World's Fair in Tennessee, in Disney World, Epcot Center, Universal Studios Florida, Denmark, and the former Soviet Union in Moscow and Leningrad. The performing unit continues to offer students valued local, state and national opportunities to perform. The Entertainers are available for charity events.
Chance To Dance Foundation
Star Maker School continues to offer programs to children in need, sponsoring scholarships and events for young performers in training through partnerships with local and state charity organizations.
Kickin' It Wit Kevv
'Kickin' It Wit Kevv' was founded and originated at our school by professional teen actor, singer, dancer and student, Kevin Csolak. It is a program designed by teens for children ages 7-13 to promote healthy self image and confident movement. The program travels to local recreation and school events and programs to teach an interactive lecture/demo using fun age appropriate music and Hip Hop Dance to convey the message, Keep Movin' to Stay Healthy.
