hidden gem where you wouldn't expect

my husband and I were driving through Big South Fork and seeing the scenery of our new town, both of us are getting hungry so we came upon a sign that pointed to the right to Bacara's Family Resturant, we turned, not knowing what to expect as it was mostly horse counrty and a lot of cows. and there nestled in the middle of all those farms was a charming rustic building with flowers and antique pieces all along the front of the building. and then to our dismay it said on the door RESERVATIONS ONLY, open at 4pm, my watch said 3:45. a nice man name IAN was coming into work, and told us kindly that we are here early enough and we can come on in. I was floored by the decor inside, as I learned this is an old school house and the chef Kurt has had this place for 17 years. the menu is impressive, with steak, german food, and seafood, ambiant candle light, and remnants of the past hanging in every corner.our server checked on us frequently and told us stories of the owner Kurt and the building. we were served a 4 course meal I had a shrimp cocktail of 8 pieces of large shrimp, then came my salad with homemade ranch, fresh baked bread, then the soup which I chose the pumpkin curry soup, very savory! then my crabcakes dinner piled ontop of a bed of rice pilaf with 2 small samon fillets, and all the vegetables I could want, brocolli, carrots, and greens beans, this was such a suprise to find such a gem tucked away in the middle of all these farms, I highly reccomend this place, the people, the food the scenery, its was a wonderful expierence! it was so wonderful before leaving, we made reservations for our anniversary in november. if you are planning to go I reccomend calling ahead, and bring cash or checks as they do not accept credit cards.
