The most unique pet store/pharmacy in NYC!
I lived in NYC for awhile and thought I knew the good pet stores. I recently moved into the neighborhood and was walking my dog and happened upon Best Pet Rx. I saw the pharmacy sign and went in out of curiosity and maybe a doggie treat and found the most unique pet store in NYC. This isn't just a store, its a pet pharmacy, the owners are pharmacists and they don't fill any prescriptions for people, only pets. They told me they have a full pharmacy with all of the pet medications that you see online and more that what you see online. They also said that they have a lab and can custom make virtually any type of pet medications in any number of ways and flavors to make it easier to give your pet their medications. They specialize in hard to find medications as well. Its strange, because if you have ever had to fill a prescription for your pet (I have) at a regular pharmacy, they may not have it or you have to wait or they may not have heard of it, but these guys are really focused on pet care. The store also has a wide range of high end pet foods too, even raw diets, that places like Petco doesn't stock including prescription foods and vitamins. For medications, you do need a prescription or they can call your vet for a prescription. What is great is that offer fast service, free same day or next day delivery (depending on the medications) and they go pretty much everywhere in the NY Metro Area. I don't know how many people know about this place, I've never heard of it (I guess because we New Yorkers stick to our neighborhoods), but is was busy in there, so I guess a lot of people know of the store and use it. They told me, if you can't get to them for your pet's medication, you can call them and they will deliver it same day or ship it next day, most often for free. If you don't know about this place, then you are missing out on one of the best kept secrets in NYC for your pet care needs! By the way, they have really nice doggie treats!
