Creative, addictive, innovative, surprising bursts of flavor combinations leave you craving more!!!

I don't venture out often to new places, like to wait for others to be the test pilots, but luckily I was invited to dine at Jackson St. Tavern and fell madly in love. I'm so tired of chain restaurants that all taste the same and don't seem to follow the seasons and what is in the garden. This place embodies what dining should be, an evolving , up-scale yet unpretentious, and unexpectedly playful menu. Marcus Brutus Salad (didn't he kill Julius Caesar....I think I get the humor) Is so tasty, the Asian Steak Salad delightful, Steaks look gorgeous and the few appetizers I have tried can't be rivaled. Have you ever had a Neptune Avocado??? A must try! Soup is made fresh and changes daily....varying flavors, shrimp bisque was lovely. Service was good, the only drawback that I found was "the usual hard to park in the market issue". I have gone back several times in these 3 weeks they have been open and the menu seems to have been reworked a bit, I hear it may even change seasonally. Love the decor, simple and uncluttered, love the "come-as-you-are" feel since I am not a dress-up girl. Really can't say anything bad about the place but I have the feeling this sleeper will be discovered and the problem will become a long wait time to get in. I plan on buying gift certificates for friends so they can get in on the ground floor, too! Oh yes, saw the Hilltop Sandwich served, it is a monster that requires a fork and knife! Honestly I didn't notice anyone who appeared to be unhappy with their food. The chef came out and made rounds to the tables several times while we were there which was fun! I don't drink but they have an extensive wine and beer list and the bar is gorgeous. Dishes are simple yet fun with a variety of accent dishes. Check it out.....hope you fall in love, too!
