      Kyoto Seafood Buffet

Good thing I went in with low expectations since my wife and I only went there because of a coupon that we received in the mail. Firs the sushi tasked like it was prepared over a week ago. It was stale and tasteless. The supposedly fresh shrimp tasted like it was frozen, defrosted, re-frozen and then defrosted. It had no taste and even the shrimp cocktail sauce was flavorless. The miso soup was cold and had no flavor. I've had better miso soup from the instant miso soup packet hat you can get in the Asian food section of your market. My wife tried the won ton soup. It too was cold and amazingly we couldn't find any won ton in it. They should name is Mystery Won Ton Soup. The hot food buffet was even worse. The temperature of the food was luke warm...and it too had very little flavor. They also featured something they call "prime beef." Well to me it was anything but prime beef! It sat unattended under a heat lamp for the customers to slice themselves. Not a good idea in a place where there are small children. The meat was cold, tasteless and tough to eat. The horseradish was served in a plastic squeeze bottle. The only decent thing to eat from the hot food buffet was the crab. Customers flocked back many times for the crab. I can't say much for the other items. The desert bar featured sliced fruit that looked like it was sliced over a week ago. I tried their "cream puff." It tasted like a puff pastry that was stuffed with "Cool Whip." I could get a better cream puff from the freezer section of my local market. My wife tried the mango loaf....she took one bite of hit and spit it out into her napkin. You know even if they changed their 10% off coupon to FREE...I wouldn't go back and would definitely recommend that you try to avoid eating here. If you like Japanese food...spend the extra money and go to one of our fine local Japanese restraints where you will enjoy the meal and the company at the sushi bar!
