Feeling Cheated

I received a credit card type of gift certificate for a "Deluxe Detailing" for about $70 from my daughter and son-in-law. The car wash counter person scanned it & told me that I owed $65. I said that this was not possible b/c I'd never used the gift certificate before. She scanned it again and insisted that it was "because of the tax". I showed her the circled brochure describing what they purchased for me. Although I had no proof of their payment, I said that they would never have given me a $10 birthday gift. She scanned it again ... and lo and behold, it showed the full payment. I might have paid the $65!!! Adding insult to injury, the job was very, very shoddy. Not only was the interior not cleaned beyond dusting, the rug mats under the rubber mats still had gravel on them & the trunk (which I'd cleaned) had not been thoroughly vacuumed. I showed it to the counter lady& she agreed that the car did not look good. Also, there was also absolutely no "scent of my selection". There was no scent at all ... not even Febreeze!!! One more thing ... I had been told (at 9:15 AM) to pick up my car at 2 PM. It was done by about 10:30 AM. My kids work hard for their money & they were ripped off ... an hour of work for $70 and a job poorly done. It was not possible for me to stay to talk to the manager, but I'll be back.
