The Scene
Oversized murals of Japanese warriors grace the wall behind a 25-foot sushi bar where Deep Ellum revelers watch colorful chefs roll, slice and shape pieces. The 25 tables are close together, and people gather in every available space around the mahogany bar on weekends drinking Sapporo and sake while waiting for one. For the best service, sit at the sushi bar; waitstaff can get busy.
The Food
This is a local favorite because it offers so many menu options, from traditional mackerel sashimi and salmon rolls to beef teriyaki and buckwheat soba noodles. Appetizer chicken tempura is tender, with a crisp fried crust covered in sweet sauce.
