Message From Tsunami Japanese Restaurant
A Dynamic Dining Experience
Chicago's famed Gold Coast is a unique restaurant presence that showcases innovative contemporary japanese cuisine while still managing to evoke it's traditional roots.

Editorial Review for Tsunami Japanese Restaurant
Hip Japanese eatery draws Gold Coast crowds for sushi and other Asian fare.

In Short
Japanese design reigns here, with high ceilings throughout, colorful murals, painted walls and a hip atmosphere. The place fills up on weekend nights--making reservations is a good idea, especially for the sushi bar--but the staff, black-clad and midriff-baring, remain polite. The menu includes a large selection of sushi, plus soups, salads, appetizers and entrees, from a teriyaki sampler with shrimp to charred peppercorn-crusted tuna loin.

Insider Tips
The Extras
A special "mommies' night" on Mondays spoils parents with champagne, sushi, a 25 percent discount and babysitting by a preschool teacher. Stroller and valet parking are available, along with toys for the kids.

House Specialties The house specialties center around creation s masterfully executed by Tsunami's deft sushi chefs. Novice diners may choose selections such as a california roll or ebi-tempura maki. More daring sushi bar aficionados may venture into the realm of sashimi style delicacies which may include hirame ponzu or the Hawaiian inspired tuna tar tare. And still, the more fashionably forward may opt for the most sublime and taste-bud tingling offerings found in the beautifully conceived in the midoki dragon maki.Other Delicacies Although the sushi at Tsunami may be the center piece of the menu, the grilled items leave guests with a lasting impression of a depth & richness of flavors not typically found in the average japanese kitchen. Grilled lamb, beef tenderloin, seared ahi tuna and grilled sea bass, for example are our standouts on the non-sushi portion.
