nice sushi, even nicer service
I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to sushi, so Blu Coral is a bit too "fusiony" for my taste. But I was impressed with the quality of the fish and the imaginativeness of the menu items.... (jenjordan75, 2008-02-02)

| | Blu Coral Chicago, the Winner of "Editorial Best Sushi in Chicago, 2007" by Citysearch, is located in the heart of Wicker Park, less than 3 miles from downtown Chicago.
As our name indicates, Blu Coral serves "Contemporary Sushi." It evolved from traditional Japanese into creative fusion style as our signature makis represent. Delicious fresh steak and chicken dishes are available for non-sushi lovers. We also serve traditional sashimi, which is slice of raw fish, and Nigiri Sushi, which is a small pinch of seasoned rice topped with slice of raw or semi cooked fish and pinch of Wasabi in between.
Blu Coral Lounge serves unique specialty martinis and Sake. Try our famous Aloe Martini which was featured in the Sun Times. Blu Coral also offers formal full course dinners, birthday parties with champagne toast, private parties, gift cards, and catering is available as well. |

| Contemporary sushi lounge Blu Coral brings it all - yin, yang, and yum to Wicker Park.
The Scene There's a certain balance to sushi-meister Andy Park's (Starfish, Sushi Ai) spot near the corner of Milwaukee and Ashland. A sense of deliberate serenity wafts from the spacious foyer through the luxe lounge and industrial dining room with open kitchen. Sweet tea lights enhance ultra dim lighting, while gorgeous Thai silk drapes and an oceanic palette soften acid jazz sounds and stainless steel fixtures. The crowd is attractive, but most come to eat, not just for the scene.
The Food An extensive menu tries to cover all the bases and mostly succeeds. Blue Point oysters are briny and delicious, served with spicy ponzu sauce. Cravings notwithstanding, the myriad maki could be bypassed in favor of entrees, which come with miso soup, gingery house salad and steamed rice. Chopstick-tender braised short ribs sing of sake and ginseng, while tende | Insider Tips | Parking Unlimited free parking is available at West Town Plaza (Jewel) - directly behind the restaurant.
Save Money Half-size entrees are half the cost of full-size orders and still come with all the extras.
Where To Sit Dining room full? Don't wait. Snag a seat in the lounge and order from the full menu.
What To Drink Specialty martinis (Aloe is a great palate cleanser), sakes, and a decent selection of wines by the glass and bottle. | View full Citysearch profile Information provided by Citysearch |
