Easy Home Cleaning - How To Shampoo Your Carpets

List: Posted: 12/10/10

Even if you vacuum a few times a week, your carpets can still be quite dirty without showing it. While you might be able to remove much of the surface dirt with a high quality vacuum, nothing gets them quite as clean as when you shampoo your carpets. It is a good idea to shampoo carpets in your house at least once a year, but many people do them about once every six months.

It is easy to shampoo your own carpets. The first thing you will want to do is remove the furniture from the room that you are about to clean. Next, vacuum the carpets with a regular vacuum cleaner to remove the surface dirt.

Decide whether you want to buy a carpet cleaner, or if you would rather rent one. Since most people only shampoo carpets once or twice a year, they decide to rent. You can rent the cleaners from many grocery stores as well as home improvement stores. You will also need to buy a bottle of cleaner.

Fill the carpet cleaner with the shampoo and hot water. Make sure that you read all the instructions on the cleaner, because different models may have different directions.

Spray the shampoo onto the carpet through the attachment on the cleaner, and then go over the floor just as you would with a vacuum. This will remove dirt and any excess water. When you have finished your entire carpet, wait for it to dry before bringing the furniture back into the room.

It's easy to shampoo your carpets, and if you want to have a truly clean house, this is one of the best ways to go about it!
