How to Make Your Own Cat Treats at Home

Giving your cat occasional treats is a part of being a good pet owner.  However, buying treats from the pet store can be very expensive, and some of these options are not particularly healthy.  There's a better option, though – you can make your cat healthy kitty treats right at home!

Here are some good suggestions:

Cheese Treats

You need:

¾ cup of flour

¾ cup of shredded cheddar cheese

5 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese

¼ cup of plain yogurt

¼ cup of cornmeal

Form this mixture into balls and bake the ingredients at 350 degrees for a healthy cat treat that your pet will love.

Chicken Treats

If your cat prefers the taste of chicken, you can use:

1 ½ cups of cooked chicken

½ cup of chicken broth

One cup of wholewheat flour

1/3 cup of corneal

1 tablespoon of margarine

Combine the chicken and margarine together, then add the flour and cornmeal.  Roll into balls and then cut into small chunks.  Bake this at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes for a great cat treat.

Liver Treats

You can also make a healthy liver treat for your cat.  You'll need:

½ cup of chicken livers (fully cooked)

¼ cup of water

1 ¼ cup of wholewheat flour

¼ cup of mashed (cooked) carrots

1 tablespoon of margarine 

Combine the flour and margarine in a bowl, blend the livers and water, then add to the mixture.  Roll into balls and cut into small pieces.  Bake this cat treat at 325 degrees for about 12 minutes.
