How You Can Keep Your Kitchen Organized

List: Posted: 12/10/10

With your kitchen being one of the most frequently used rooms in your home, it's important that it remains organized.  Here are some tips to help you keep this area clean.

Pantry Arrangement

If your kitchen has a pantry, you should make sure that you are using this area to its maximum potential.  To organize this part of the room, use high quality racking that can withstand the weight of canned and dried goods.  Arrange the shelves in a sensible manner such as having the baking goods on one level, and canned goods on another.   When you need something, you will know exactly where to find it.

Commonly Used Items

There is physically not enough countertop space to have all of your small appliances and other kitchen tools out in the open.  As a result, you should only leave out the items that you use the most.  These items can include your coffee maker, microwave, toaster and mixer.  Other items, such as a blender or food processor, should be placed in a cabinet or storage room.

Cabinet Arrangement

Another way to keep your kitchen organized is to have arranged cabinets.  You should organize them in a way that makes the most sense.  For example, plates, bowls, and glassware should be in the same cabinet or next to each other for easy access.  Doing so prevents you from having to go to opposite sides of the kitchen to set the dinner table.

Having an organized kitchen will make your life simpler, and more enjoyable at meal time.
