You can exercise anywhere, and that’s important to remember. The question for many people who want to get fit, however, is whether indoor or outdoor exercise provides better results. There are some advantages and disadvantages to each. Remember, however, that you can go outside and exercise if the gym is too stuffy, or go inside and exercise if the weather is inclement.
Having an indoor exercise routine may be preferable to people who live in cities and to people who suffer conditions such as asthma. The lack of environmental pollutants may help you from having your exercise routine interrupted by the need to use your inhaler or to simply rest because of difficulty breathing.
Indoor exercise is also a good option for those who are insecure about exercising in front of other people, provided it’s at home. At gym, trainers, equipment and friends to inspire you are the main benefits.
Outdoor exercise can be psychologically very relaxing. Running down the road can give you the feeling that you’re getting away from your stressors and gives you pretty scenery to look at to take your mind off your worries. Outdoor exercise also has the advantage of being more adventurous than indoor exercise and of course provides you with a great dose of fresh air. If you’re a runner, you’ll likely take your outdoor fitness routine indoors when the winter comes calling and this can be a great way to keep fit.
